With the holidays quickly approaching, people have most likely started their holiday shopping. I actually start my Christmas shopping towards the end of the summer. This way, I can pay a little at a time, which fits with my budget. This is why I love layaway so much because I can get everything the kids want and I am not coming out of pocket several hundred dollars all at once. With upwards of 100 gifts to wrap, the duty always falls to me because no one else knows how to do it! I found this was a common issue in many households and I wanted to offer my step-by-step, easy to follow Christmas gift wrapping tutorial. The first step you must take before you begin wrapping your gifts is to have the right paper. If you get paper that is thin and cheap, it makes your gift look the same. I love the lovely thick paper and high quality printing from Giftskins.com.

I had the best time wrapping my Christmas gifts and I want to share my expertise with you! I will have you wrapping gifts like a pro with this 10 step-by-step Christmas gift wrapping tutorial! Please note the box I am using and will be referring to is rectangular in shape. For a square or other shaped boxes, the directions will vary slightly.
Step 1: Gather your materials, which will be your paper, scissors and tape. I prefer invisible tape, but you can use whatever you like.
Step 2: Open your wrapping paper with the pattern face down. Place your box, also face down, horizontally in the middle of the paper. By lifting the paper on either side of the box, you can estimate how much paper you will need. Scoot your box to the right and leave a paper over hang that is equal to 1/2 the height of the box. Do the same on the left side and cut along that line.
Step 3: Bring your paper up over the top of the box to the middle and tape in the two places as indicated by the arrows.
Step 4: Do the same as in Step 3 by bringing the paper from the bottom to the middle and tape in the same spots.
Step 5: Turn the box on the length (longer) side, with the width (shorter) side end facing you. Fold the paper down and crease the top edge and sides to give a crisp line. Place one piece of tape where indicated by the arrow.
Step 6: Turn the box over and repeat Step 5 on the other side.
Step 7: Following the same process as in steps 5, do the same for the (length) longer sides. After you fold the top down, you may need to trim the end of the flap as it may be too long.
Step 8: After cutting the excess paper, secure with tape. On the bottom flap, fold the edge up to cover the raw edge.
Step 9: Now you can bring the flap up and secure with tape.
Step 10: You have a perfectly wrapped gift ready to be adorned with a bow, tag and any other accessories you want to add.
